DIRECT TO GARMENT

Direct to Garment [DTG] is a fantastic solution for fast
turn-around, complex graphics, and short runs.
DTG delivers an exceptionally soft and lightweight feel that is great for large full-color prints.

  • When you are in a time crunch and need your stuff quickly, DTG is the best solution. Unity can produce your DTG job fast.

  • DTG produces beautiful photo-realistic results with unlimited colors.

  • Direct to Garment orders are best suited for 1 –72 units

  • Great for large prints that have a lot of fine detail.

Direct To Garment printing is a full digital process, that is similar to printing on paper.  The garments are loaded in the machine and prints directly onto the fabric in the matter of minutes. Multiple colors are applied at the same time rather than in separate layers, which means DTG is ideal to print intricate and colorful designs.

Due to the fact that there is almost no set up time, DTG is perfect for printing small quantities, even a single garment.  The colors are printed using a combination of CMYK and White inks at a consistent output of 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi producing vibrant, detailed amazing prints.  We also offer oversize printing of 16" x 20" that other DTG providers cannot do. DTG allows you to print over zippers, seams, and other non-traditional print locations.

Our goal here is to give you honest and expert advice, for the best method and approach to your project.  Here are some of the advantages and limitations of Direct To Garment printing:

Advantages of DTG

Fast turn-around times with next day printing available.

The best soft and lightweight feel compared to any other print method.

Amazing detail including photographic art can be achieved with unlimited colors

Perfect for small orders with no MOQ (minimum order quantity).

DTG uses environmentally friendly water-based inks.

Great for large prints with maximum print size of 16” x 20”.

Limitations of DTG

When printing on dark colors DTG works best on 100% cotton and natural fabrics.

Limited to only printing on white synthetic fabrics such as Polyester or Lycra.

Best results are achieved on DTG approved garments supplied by Unity.

There can be color variations when printing the same design on light and dark garments. Color reproduction is not as accurate compared to silk screen printing.

More expensive than other options in high volumes. Not suitable for over 72 pieces in most cases.

Direct to garment printing (DTG) is a process of printing on textiles using specialized inkjet technology. DTG printers hold the garment in a fixed position, and use specialty inks that are applied to the textile directly by the printhead and are absorbed by the garment's fibers; these features prevent the distortion seen with some other textile printing techniques.
